GETTING TO KNOW YOUR SCHOOL SYSTEM
A wonderful way for new residents to get acquainted with their neighbors
is to become involved in the Cold Spring Harbor School District. Whether or not you have children in school, as a resident of
the Cold Spring Harbor School district, you will be sent a District Calendar. If
you did not receive one, please call the district office at 692-8036. This is an
invaluable tool because it lists all the important school numbers and gives the
calendar dates of all the meetings. Included
is our District Website: http://www.csh.k12.ny.us
which can provide valuable, up-to-date information regarding all the
schools, including upcoming sports events, school closings, and district-wide
meetings such as the Board of Education. Our school district prides itself on communication with its residents. To that end, each school has an active parent association and a weekly or monthly publication which gives you current information specifically geared to your child’s school. They are as follows: Goosehill Primary School – Kindergarten and First Grades: For children who attend kindergarten and first grade, the Goosehill Parent Faculty Association (GPFA) meets monthly and holds both day and evening informational meetings. They publish the weekly “News from the Hill” on Fridays, and the “Goosehill Gander” which comes out several times a year. The phone number at Goosehill School, which is on Goose Hill Road in Cold Spring Harbor, is 692-6102.
Cold
Spring Harbor Junior and Senior High School – Seventh through Twelfth Grades:
The Cold Spring Harbor High School, on Turkey Lane in Cold Spring Harbor,
is the home to our seventh through twelfth grades.
The Citizen Faculty Association (CFA), holds both joint and separate
monthly meetings for Junior and Senior High parents on the first or second
Wednesday of each month. The number
at the high school is 692-8600. All
residents, regardless of having a child in school, will receive the monthly
“Ripples.” In addition to
giving information pertaining to the Junior and Senior High, the “Ripples”
relays important district-wide notices including registration forms for our
Adult Education Program. This
program is offered twice a year and provides diverse classes from computer
literacy to golf. Additional groups of interest are as follows.
All meeting times and places are listed on the District Calendar.
· Central Parents Council: Parent-School

to the district and help them feel at home.
You may receive information on the CPC by contacting the
Superintendent’s secretary at the district office at 692-8036.
